Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before submitting a request.

You can request any dataset that can be built from lawful public sources. This includes business directories, licensed professional registries, environmental permits, public sector facilities, geographic reference data, historical government records, supplier directories, and more. If you are unsure whether your request is feasible, submit it and we will tell you what is and is not buildable.

We collect data from publicly available sources including government open data portals, provincial and federal registries, municipal databases, official websites, published directories, and other lawful sources. We do not collect private, confidential, or restricted information.

No. We collect only what is lawfully published and publicly accessible. We do not collect private personal data, confidential business records, information behind paywalls or authentication, or any data that would require bypassing access controls.

No. Every request is reviewed for feasibility before a proposal is prepared. Some datasets may not exist, may be incomplete, may be restricted, or may not be practical to collect at the requested scope. We will be upfront about what is and is not buildable.

Depending on the dataset, we can deliver: CSV, Excel (.xlsx), JSON, GIS/spatial formats (Shapefile, GeoJSON, KML), and custom formats on request. Most deliveries also include a data dictionary and a source list.

Yes. Where the dataset includes location information, we can geocode addresses, link records to geographic boundaries, and deliver in formats suitable for GIS tools including Shapefile, GeoJSON, and KML. Note that geocoding quality depends on address data quality.

Pricing is determined by scope, source complexity, record volume, required processing, and deliverables. Each request receives a custom proposal with itemized pricing. We do not publish fixed prices because no two dataset projects are the same.

Timeline depends on scope and source complexity. A straightforward directory with well-published sources may take a few days. A multi-source, multi-province dataset with enrichment may take several weeks. Timeline is specified in every proposal.

Yes. If your data needs become ongoing, a custom dataset project may be transitioned into a managed dataset subscription through MyCleanData — our related managed data service. This is entirely optional and would be proposed separately if appropriate.

No. This website uses no cookies, no tracking pixels, no analytics, no advertising networks, and no third-party embeds. It is a static website with no user accounts and no behavioral data collection.

Yes. MyDataOnDemand and MyCleanData are both part of the MyWaypoint ecosystem. MyCleanData offers pre-built, managed dataset subscriptions with API access. MyDataOnDemand is for custom, one-off dataset requests where the dataset does not already exist. If a custom dataset later becomes a recurring need, it may be offered as a managed subscription through MyCleanData.

Yes. MyDataOnDemand is Canadian-operated. We focus primarily on Canadian public data sources, though we can build datasets from international public sources where available and lawful.

Don’t see your question answered here? The best next step is to submit a dataset request — describe what you need and we will respond with what is buildable and what is not.
